This is an interactive art project done for the Bangalore Namma metro station in Peenya. Art in public spaces has been used globally to make the space more personal and for the commuters to have a memorable experience.
Its called "The Eardrums" because the instrument works by hitting either ends of the pipe with a flat object(Footwear mainly) and sound is created. listening to the pipe has its own sound naturally also.
The instrument was made out of used corrugated pipes that was found in the station junk yard.

The pipes are originally used for the drainage system for flyovers and massive structures in the city.
Experimenting with the pipes to see the decibel level and placement.
The more the noise outside, the more louder it gets channelized through the pipe creating its own natural sound.
Metal framework to hold the pipes.
The pipes are tuned to C major scale according to music theory. I have related the notes to colours so that people who are not familiar with music. The darker colours are lower notes and the brighter colours are higher.
Placed it in the centre of the station and the commuters had a great time interacting with the Eardrums
